Nordic skiing is also attracting increasing interest in Switzerland. More and more health- and exercise-conscious people are drawn to the cross-country trails. The target audience is becoming noticeably younger and even classic technique is experiencing a revival. Around 15% more cross-country skis have been sold in Switzerland in the past three years.
This trend can also be clearly felt in the five cross-country skiing areas of Gstaad. The responsible are constantly working on further improving the trails, increasing the snow reliability and optimizing the infrastructures around the trails. The own claim is high to be able to offer the guests optimal conditions. In Gstaad, people are convinced that a modern infrastructure will be a competitive advantage in the future.
That is why Gstaad Saanenland Tourismus has invested a lot of passion and financial resources in the Schönried-Saanenmöser cross-country ski area. In the winter of 2019/2020, the cross-country trails were technicial snowed for the first time. In the following winter and in the following years, the project will be further improved and expanded.
